The PURE Foundation was founded in February 2024 to improve plastic surgical care for patients with congenital defects, injuries resulting from accidents and cancer (treatments). Our mission is to improve the quality of life of patients with these conditions, both in the Netherlands and abroad, through education and stimulating research. We do this in two ways within the PURE Foundation.
Firstly, we organize conferences, workshops, courses, lectures and education in the field of hand/wrist surgery, peripheral nerves, congenital lip, jaw and palate clefts and reconstructive surgery. In this way, healthcare providers in the field are kept informed of the latest scientific developments and technical novelties and skills are transferred to doctors, specialists (in training) and paramedics from both home and abroad.
Secondly, we finance scientific research into various conditions that plastic surgery practice encounters on a daily basis.
A distinction is made between the different pillars of plastic surgery, namely: reconstructive surgery, hand/wrist surgery, peripheral nerve surgery, pediatric plastic surgery and aesthetic surgery.
Our goals are achieved in these two ways: supporting (ongoing) research projects, developing effective treatments and providing education to healthcare professionals to improve the quality of life of patients with these conditions. The fundraising commercial activities fully benefit our objectives.
Facts
The PURE Foundation is a non-profit foundation. The board and all our team members are volunteers. The directors receive no compensation for their board work, except for an expense allowance. We want to use the funding raised (donations, subsidies, profits) to finance research projects that improve the quality of life of the patients mentioned. The activities and objectives of the foundation fall into the categories of education, science and research, as well as healthcare, as specified by the Tax Authorities.
